    Taskbar network icon


    Hi,
    The PC is connected but it shows the no connection icon, I tried resetting the network, restarting but nothing changes, any ideas?

    The Network Connection Status Icon [NCSI] shows the not-connected icon unless it gets the proper response from
    www.msftconnecttest.com/connecttest.txt
    so try going to that address manually in your browser.

    You might get a security challenge about it not being an https site but that's not a problem.
    Network Connection Status Icon - MSLearn

    - If you do connect to it properly, you'll see a webpage that just contains the text
    Microsoft Connect Test
    So you'll know that the icon you are seeing indicates a local problem.

    - If you do not see that page then that explains the icon you are seeing & you'll know that you have a networking problem.

    I don't understand what you mean.

    Either you see

    OK.
    So the fault is with what Windows displays and not with your network connection.

    Icon cache problems. This may help, but in my experience never been a complete solution. In recent versions of Windows 10 seems to be less of a problem.
