Hi,

I got 2 identical laptops, same hardware and same Win10 home. Both laptops worked fine with Miracast, casting to a LG smart TV webOS OLED55..., at least up until a few months ago when one of the two laptops could not cast anymore to the LG TV. The other laptop miracasts just fine to the LG TV.

The failing laptop attempts to connect to the TV for a few seconds, but then drops the connection.

I've tried lots of instructions and suggestions from the internet but still no result.

So here is what I've learned so far from the failing laptop.

DxDiag shows that all Miracast components are present.

Also WiFi is version 6.7

Before attempting to connect, I need to remove the [LG] driver first from the \Setting\Device\Bluetooth&OtherDevice\ pane

Then I add a [Wirless Display] in [Add a device].

The laptop then finds the [LG] webOS TV OLED55... "driver".

Clicking that [LG] "driver" somehow downloads it; all looks ok up to this point.

But then, in the Device Manager's pane the LG driver appears in a folder called \Other devices\

I've also tried to download the LG Wireless Display driver through \Settings\Display\Multiple Displays\ [Connect to a wireless display], but that also puts the LG driver in \Device Manager\Other devices\.

In fact, the driver appears TWICE in \Device Manager\Other devices\ , were one of the drivers has that yellow triangle with a ! in it. (Note that updating those drivers does not work. Windows suggests to download them from LG's website but I couldn't find any.)

Note also that in the Device Manager the folder \Miracast display devices\ is missing!!!, contrary to the other correctly working laptop were that folder is present, with the appropriate driver [LG] webOS TV OLED55...

Question:
What might be the reason for the absence of the \Miracast display devices\ folder in Device Manager? And how to get that folder back?

Thanks
