What is the unknown mantis device in Network display in Windows 10

    Hello

Can anyone help me identify what the mantis device shown below is?

What is the unknown mantis device in Network display in Windows 10-mantis_abridged.jpg

This mantis device appears sporadically within the Network display on a Windows 10 PC of mine with the following properties:

From what I can see on-line, mantis might be an Amazon device or a virus. I am uncertain which of these it might be but the PC in question does have Amazon Kindle installed.

All PC and router connections are wired. I do not use WiFi.

    Thanks

    Mr Morgan.

Designated/Identified by Windows as a "phone" simply because it has a SIM card in it?

No phone is connected to the PC in question. And Bluetooth is turned off on my mobile phone.

Mantis is the code name for Amazon's Fire TV Stick 4K. Maybe your PC is detecting it.

Living in a block of flats, my PC detecting an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K is possible.

Doesn't matter whether it's a an actual "phone" or simply another type of device that requires a SIM card (for voice or data or both, just like a phone) Windows probably has just (mis?)detected and generically (mis?)classified it as a "phone".

Its device ID is shown as AFTMM (which is the Android OS build model)... so it could also be a Fire TV Soundbar.

    Hope this helps...

I live above a fast food shop and my PC frequently detects and shows devices like in your example from the customers and couriers, i think its something to do with Nearby Sharing scanning.
