you are currently offline, but I am connected to internet

For the past month of so I will get this little pop up that shows up in the bottom left side of my screen telling me that I am currently offline and the right side of that little box states to click to refresh. I am already connected to the internet and not having any issue so not sure why that will suddenly pop up. I have clicked refresh and then the box goes away and sometimes I simply just click the little x in the upper right corner of that popup since I know that I am connected to the internet and not having any issues. I can't recall when it started happening, but there does not seem to be any pattern to when it will pop up and there are times when I can go for almost a week without it showing up and then there are times when it will show up multiple times in one day.
Any idea as to what the heck is going on? I have restarted the modem as well as done a power cycle for the modem. I have also done the same thing with the router in the past, but that little box will suddenly pop up. The modem is only about 18 months old and the router is a couple years old and I was thinking of replacing that with a newer one, but I want to figure out this little annoyance before changing anything --- unless changing the router is going to resolve it and since the popup is wrong about not being connected to the internet I am thinking it is the computer not the router or modem. Any suggestions would be so very much appreciated.

I am running windows 10 Home, Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.3208)

    Thank You

I got a screen shot of it this time. I have a wireless connection - always have since we moved here back in 2006. There is a modem which is connected to the wires coming into the house and that is located in the garage and the router is plugged into that and the computer connects wirelessly. The garage is a part of the house and it does not get excessively hot or cold. Where the computer (desktop) is located is not directly under where the modem and router and located, but fairly close.
I have attached the screen shot of that popup. But despite the fact that it is saying that I am currently offline, I am not.

I only have the one network and the only thing connected is my computer.you are currently offline, but I am connected to internet-you-currently-offline.jpg

Go to Search and type ncpa.cpl and press Enter.
This will show all of your Network Connections.
Is the computer connected via an Ethernet (LAN) cable connection? Is there more then one Wireless Connection?

The way windows determines if your online or not is by trying to download a file from http://www.msftncsi.com/ncsi.txt or http://www.msftconnecttest.com/connecttest.txt, If it cannot download the file it figures it is offline. If the request succeeds you will see only two words in your browser Microsoft NCSI for the first URL and the second URL will show Microsoft Connect Test

Next time it happens see if you connect to one of those URLs.

I suspect that popup is produced by a computer maker's bundled utility.
You will only solve the problem if you identify the utility and change whatever it wants in its settings or just disable it since it might not be doing any good at all.

You can try to find the utility that generates that popup by using WinSpy.

As what Digital Life said, Windows makes a connection to an external resource (Akamai Cloud) to "ping" the server. If it succeeds then it's assumed you have an Internet connection and thus no pop up. If it doesn't succeed then it's assumed you have no Internet connection and then you get the popup error.

What may be happening is that some sort of firewall or anti-virus software or even the router (doubtful) is blocking this "ping." Thus Windows is assuming you have no Internet access.

The only 2 settings are Ethernet and that has a red X and says Network cable unplugged and the other one is my WiFi Connection.

Next time that box shows up I will try connecting to those sites and see what happens. Thanks

I will try that the next time the pop up appears again. So far, it has not appeared again, but it does seem to show up every couple of days or within about a week. Thank You

Okay, that darn box popped up again this morning so I tried accessing both of the sites that Digital Life suggested and I got the required page as stated.

I also ran the troubleshooter and it did not find any issues.

I guess I will try that information from Try3
