recognize ethernet ports for computer to computer network

all together there are 4 Ethernet ports. I show only show 2 in my network connections.
one port is intel (R) 1211 gigabit the other is a Realtek PCIe 2.5Gbe. I show one of each in my network connections. Trying to get both to work together isn't working. I've been working on getting all 4 to work so I can connect both computers up using a crossover cable to exchange files. Any help would be great.

I worked all this out for a Win7-WinXP direct ethernet computer-to-computer network and later amended it for a Win7-Win7 network.

You can use a crossover cable but do not have to.
Doing this in Windows 10 is just about the same as doing it in Windows 7 but some diagrams look different & you have to look around for the equivalent settings in some cases.

But I suggest you do yourself a favour and get a router so that it does all the hard work for you.

Silly question, but are your computers setup as private and not public?

A switch with auto MDIX will work for you without needing a crossover cable.

I agree. I recently bought a 5-port switch that supports MDIX because I needed more ports than my router had. It would work just as well to connect multiple computers directly.

Are both pcs connected to internet if so you should just be able to map drives to each pc
