Windows10 network adapter missing after clean install

Hello,

a friend of mine installed the latest windows10 iso on his computer today.
but now after the install is completed he is in big trouble because there is no network adapter.
he streamed with the phone and i tried helping with a few ideas as sfc scannow, dism, advanced startup, windows settings, windows troubleshooting, and lastly device manager, but in the devmgmt.msc there is no network adapter option.
so i said him to enable hidden devices and now we see the network adapter but there are only grey options expect one the microsoft kernel debug.
we spent 2 hours trying find a way to make it work, no luck.
just be aware that it was an offline install, and i want to ask if we need a specific network adapter for his mainboard or cpu?

system specs
Processor - Intel (R) Code i5-6400
Motherboard - MSI B150M Mortar (MS-7977)

Thanks but i have to inform you that the driver did not work for my mate, he installed the latest one 2021 64bit windows 10 driver but still has no internet connection.
Personaly im more curious of why this happened? I can think only of a few reasons, his hardware might be old or incompatible with this modern windows version? The link you sent goes to Attention Required! | Cloudflare is it secure to download drivers there?
Why not an official download from msi or intel or microsoft?

Edit: now the pc recognized the ethernet connection but it still doesnt work, when he logged into his useraccount some error occured saying "realtek network controller not found" and if "deepsleep mode is enabled unplug the cable", its a desktop not a laptop and we didnt enable deespsleep anyway.

Since the device does not even show up in Device Manager, the issue is highly unlikely to be a driver issue. Even with no driver, you would expect to see the device in Device Manager.

More likely is that the device is disabled somewhere, most likely in the BIOS.

My suggestion would be to enter the BIOS and look for Ethernet related settings to see if it is disabled.

I found what I was looking for...

I downloaded the user guide for that motherboard.

In BIOS settings go to this path:

Advanced > Integrated Peripherals > Onboard LAN Controller

Make sure this setting is set to ENABLED.

Dang it i knew it, i've tought about exactly that bios settings but forgot it just a moment after, thanks for the reminder that solved the human-caused issue!
