PC not blocking ads despite correct DNS configuration

I am seeking assistance regarding a peculiar issue I've been facing with my PC's ad-blocking setup. I have set up a Pi-hole server and have correctly configured my PC's DNS settings to point to the assigned DNS of the Pi-hole server. However, despite these settings, my PC still fails to block ads.

Here are the troubleshooting steps I have already tried:

• Verified DNS Configuration: I have double-checked and confirmed that my PC's DNS settings are correctly pointing to the Pi-hole server's DNS IP address.
• Tested on Other Devices: To ensure it's not an issue with the Pi-hole server itself, I have tested ad-blocking functionality on other devices connected to the same network, such as another PC, both wired and wireless, and various cell phones. Ad-blocking works perfectly fine on these devices, confirming that the Pi-hole server is functioning as intended.
• Previous Configuration with Docker: It's worth noting that I initially had Pi-hole installed on my PC using Docker, and it worked flawlessly in that setup. However, I later switched to using a separate device (Orange 3 LTS) dedicated to running the Pi-hole server. This is when the issue with my PC not blocking ads started occurring.

Considering the steps I've taken and the fact that ad-blocking functions properly on other devices, it appears to be an isolated problem with my PC. I'm puzzled as to why the DNS configuration is not taking effect on my PC specifically.

Pi-hole – Network-wide Ad Blocking

Because you are still using Comcast's DNS servers you want to remove all these which may be in your router still and you also have static ip set so you want to remove them on the PC too. You can even see in a few areas on that image it has them listed still. The network pane on the right of the image has nothing but Comcast DNS.

Just remove them locally and on the router.

Unless you need to have the devices static If you can just set DHCP so that your router can organize the devices properly you should then be able to lock devices in the Rotuer if you still require them to hold the same ip over time.

on my router, the only DNS it is set to use it the pihole's.


where local do i need to navigate to, so I can find and remove the comcast DNS's

You will have to disable Ipv6 support on your router.

Sorry i mean on your computers adapter or just set the preferred DNS locally and see if that stops it.

your router should have a sepearte area for ipv6 look in there and see what the DNS is and if it can be manually set then just try with it set as blank or you will have to set this up on the pi or the router one of the two depending on what your network is doing.

cant ping, but I can now browse ad free without an adblocker, and i can see my pc sending queries on the pihole interface.

also docker did make some changes, which have been reverted to the original.
