Websites consistently default to incorrect region/language

    Windows 10 64-bit (ver. 21H1, build 19043.2006)
    Intel Core i7-7600k
    16 GB RAM

I usually use Firefox but I've noticed this happens on other browsers as well (Chrome, Edge, etc.)

I'm in the US. I usually use Firefox and recently (a couple months maybe) different websites will default to the incorrect region/country/language. The country will be anything from Spain to India and the language anything as well.

Websites that have nothing to do with each other. Asus.com, Google search results, etc.

I've tried changing the region manually on these websites, clearing cookies/history, running anti-virus software (Malwarebytes & Win. Defender), updating Windows, restarting modem/router/PC, changing Windows region/language/clock settings, etc....nothing seems to make any difference.

    Any help is appreciated.

"There could be several reasons why websites consistently default to an incorrect region or language. Here are a few possible causes:

IP Address: Websites often use your IP address to determine your approximate location. If your IP address is not accurately mapped to your actual region, it can lead to incorrect default settings.

Browser Settings: Some browsers have settings that allow you to specify your preferred language or region. If these settings are not configured correctly, websites may default to a different language or region.

Cookies: Websites may store information in cookies, including language or region preferences. If the cookies are corrupted or outdated, it can result in incorrect default settings.

Website Configuration: The website itself may have incorrect or outdated configuration settings that determine the default language or region. This could be due to technical issues or improper setup.

Geolocation Services: Websites often use third-party geolocation services to determine the user's location. If these services provide inaccurate information, it can lead to incorrect defaults.

Cache Issues: Cached versions of websites may contain outdated or incorrect information about your language or region preferences. Clearing your browser cache can sometimes resolve this problem.

If you're experiencing this issue, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot:

Check your browser settings and ensure that your preferred language and region are correctly configured.

Clear your browser cookies and cache to eliminate any outdated or corrupted data.

Consider using a virtual private network (VPN) to obtain an IP address from the desired region.

Contact the website's support team and inform them about the issue. They may be able to assist you or provide insight into any known problems with their default settings.

Remember that some websites may not offer the option to change the default language or region, in which case you may need to rely on workarounds like using translation tools or accessing alternative versions of the website if available."

maybe ask your service provider to check their side (with the IP)

What does this show as your location?

My Location - Where am I Right Now?

Pop up> Choose allow location, not block.

    Try several browsers.

Reset router (hard reset button). Change DNS and reboot. It could be a DNS issue especially if you're using your ISP's DNS.

Change IPv4 and IPv6 DNS Server Address in Windows
