    shared folder

I created a shared folder between two computers for example win10-1 and win10-2
My question is - when sharing, why do I go into the folder automatically, it doesn't ask me for a username and password
I want the Enter Network Credentials window to appear when I log in
I changed in the Network and Sharing Center - Turn on password-protected sharing
    Thanks

When password protected sharing is turned on, only people who have a user account and password on your computer can access shared files, printers attached to your computer, and the Public folders.

If you wanted to give access to shared files to other people without an account and password on your computer, then you will need to turn off password protected sharing.

Using that would not be how you would cause a prompt to be given.

Further you've not said if the two PCs have the same login credentials or not for the folder of interest.
If you could clarify that, someone may be able to help further. Thanks.

win10-1 computer you found the sharing folder
From a win10-2 computer I access the share
    Both computers have passwords
As I mentioned password protected sharing is turned on,
    What did you mean:
Further you've not said if the two PCs have the same login credentials or not for the folder of interest.
If you could clarify that, someone may be able to help further

And thank you for your reply.

Consider PC 1 and PC 2.

Are the login credentials the same for PC 1 and 2?
    Or are they different?

Here I mean the email address and password for each of them.

In particular are the login credentials for the folder which is shared on each identical? (Bearing in mind PCs may have more than one user).
