Thanks, MisterEd, do you know where I can find this program and if it is a paid licence or free download? Can it be trusted or is there a possibility for "inbuilt" malware/ransomware or scam. We never know...

That was indeed a good bargain with the Dell. If it is still working and you don't need it, why not convert it to a Chromebook? It is possible to do and the CB does not require as much system power as Windows. I was reading about how to do it in a Swedish Computer Magazine. I will try to do that with a Toshiba Satellite which is so slow - week processor - that I go crazy when I am trying to use it. It is a W10 with all updates. I upgraded to 8GB RAM, but it did not help much as the CPU is not good enough.

I was thinking, I have the orignal W7 disk, what can I do if I connect it to a USB port? Can I open the files or do I need the pass word to access the files? I guess I can't boot the W7 system without the pass word anyway... It is complicated for an old man like me.

    Hi itsme1,
Thank you for your help. Many good advises was said in the posts about the problem yesterday, but it did nor resolve it so far. Your input was a new approach I will try.

Before I do that I just want to repeat the status. Bluetooth does not show on the Device Manager or anywhere else on the system.
The Fn+F3 controls the BT and WiFi communication. BT does not react.

We also discussed BIOS settings yesterday as I read an old post on the Forum that BT might be disabled in BIOS. I did not find any setting options for BT in BIOS. So I am still confused about that.

I also reinstalled the BT driver, but during the installation process I got the message "no BT on this device". So what does that tell me, that the BT module is defective or disabled?

Thank you very much. I will consider this option if the final conclusion is that it is defective.
However, I understand from the Acer community that replacing the module is a very complex and should only be done by a computer technician, which I am not...

It looks really simple to me and i'd encourage you to check the web for some how-to's. If i was in your position i'd be looking to fit an improved /updated module.

Help with bypassing passwords is technically not allowed on this forum. I suggest you do a Google search for "windows 7 password recovery tool".

Perhaps it is easier than I think, but I am soon 80 and afraid to make things worse...
But I will take a look. How do I know that the items for sale on the web are working?

MisterEd, I fully understand and appreciate what you are saying. However, if I was a criminal with a stolen device I would not ask the forum for help with the password. The equipment is bought and paid by me and I am 80 years old and as a member l am only looking for help.

I know I can find programs on the web for this purpose, but I don't know what is safe and what is scam...

    MisterEd,

My apology. I suddenly realized that when I rearranged the text in my last post, the most important sentence was deleted. What I wanted to say was that I understand that it would be impossible for the forum to explain how to do it as it is an open forum for everyone to read. I did not think about that when I asked for that specific help.

    Sorry about that.
