Hello @togel,
You are VERY welcome.
The manuals are ALWAYS a handy resource to have.
Thanks again, Paul.
Have we reached the end of the road about this issue by now, or are there any other ideas in the air?
I will be more than grateful for all help I can get. And you have all been very kind and helpful.
When I upgraded from W7 to W10 I replaced the HDD with a SSD and cloned it before upgrading. This means I have the original factory installed W7 intact. My idea was to reinstall the W7 disk to see if the BT works. Unfortunately I lost my pass word to start W7 so unless I can find a solution to get in without the pass word, I guess that route is no longer an option... I thought that if the BT works with W7 it is not a hardware issue. If it does not work it is likely to believe that the BT nodule is defective...
I would go with the Bluetooth chip has died. Windows can't see it so no driver will work. There are good Bluetooth dongles around and they don't cost the earth. Good luck.
Thank you, Fabler2, yes I know, it is just inconvenient when I need the USB port for the system back-up disk and other needs. I only have one port available.
That is of course an option. But if I can get the W7 started I would like to know if the BT module is defective or not.

Hi everyone,
As we could not find a solution to the lost Bluetooth problem discussed yesterday, my last option is to reinstall the original W7 HDD. As mentioned above in an earlier post, I replaced the original HDD with a SSD when I upgraded from W7 to W10. In other words, I have the original W7 intact.
But, and there is a big "but", I cannot find the pass word and I don't have a start media. So the question is now how can I start W7 without the pass word and without resetting the system?
My #1 choice is of course a solution to the Bluetooth problem with W10, but if that is impossible I hope someone can help me with how to start W7 without the pass word.
All the best to you all.
There are programs that will scan a drive and extract Windows and Office passwords, I think Windows 7 is the newest version of Windows that this program works with. I am not sure whether I can say any more than that.
Somebody gave me a old Dell laptop that they bought at the junkyard for $1. The laptop wouldn't even power up. I pulled the hard drive and put it in an external enclosure. I scanned the drive while I was booted in Windows 10 on another computer, The program I used gave me the Windows 7 Home Premium and Office Standard 2007 passwords it found on the drive. Note the label on the bottom of the laptop showed it originally came with Windows Vista.
BTW, these passwords were valid because I was able to activate Windows 7 and Office 2007 on another computer.
I do not know if it was already said, in Windows 10 you can reset the Network adapters, Bluetooth is part of the WiFi adapter. You will have to download the WiFi, Bluetooth and Ethernet drivers to reinstall them.
In the configuration panel uninstall all WiFi, Bluetooth and Ethernet drivers, and do the reset procedure: Reset Network Adapters in Windows 10
Edit: After the procedure, initially not install the drivers, they may not be supported. Do a Windows Update search so that they install automatically.
