I'm sure that lots of people have said those same ideas. I was in the right forum thread at the right time, so I wrote down those ideas. Unless I'm wrong I believe the UNIX/Linux "du" command lists the entire size of files in a directory or drive.

Linux file manager (explorer on windowish) lists the folder total file size and free space on disk when you mark all files
It is in swedish i know, but in the bottom it says 2folders selected (containing total 10objets), 13 other objects marked (48.6GB), Free space 972.7GB... Free space on the disk so to speak. :)

Sure, but why can't this be done in Windows Explorer. Not every Windows user is comfortable with old DOS commands. I am, because I'm an "old guy" who started out with CP/M then moved to DOS 2.1. Then to Windows/286, which was just a program launcher for Excel. Then Windows for Workgroup 3.11, etc.

You really cannot get much simpler as an intro to batch files.

Totally agree for anyone who aspires to be a member in good standing in this forum.

But my wife??? The only batch files she would use are ones that I set up for her. Don't get me wrong. She's a great lady, and I'm very happily married but I wasn't attracted to her because of her Windows skills.
