Cannot boot into system image ISO that's on my network share

I am the admin of the NAS in question. This system image ISO file is on a network share of the NAS (shared folder). I have write and read rights to everything including this folder and the ISO file on it.

Yet when I attempt to boot into this ISO file on the shared folder (on my NAS), Hyper-V and VirtualBox both give me an error message the equivalent of 'Couldn't access file, wrong login credentials' or something like that.

basically it says that the ISO file on this network share (that i, as NAS admin, have write and read access to) cannot be opened/booted into coz the username or password are incorrect which is nonsense since I can access all files on my NAS no problem.

The only thing I can offer is whether Boot to LAN is set in the BIOS, could have an effect.
