Remote desktop from a new location/network

Windows 10 Pro 22H2

I have two laptops setup for remote desktop to access L1 from L2. I'm away on holiday for a few days with both laptops so they're now connected to a different network and L2 can no longer access L1. Is it possible to do it without having to delete the current config and set it up again (which means I have to do the same again when I get back home)? If it is, can someone please explain the process or provide a link to an online source that can help me?

Team Viewer or Chrome desktop would be the only way.

Even though both laptops are connected to the same network?

If I understand correctly, since you are saying that that you have both laptops with you, they are both currently on the same network, correct?

If so, that should work, however, you might want to go into your network settings and verify that both systems network is configured as a "private" network. It may have flagged the network as "public" since it is now a different network. Otherwise, even on a public network, remote desktop will work, but you may have to connect using the IP address rather than the system name.

BTW, Remote Access can be made to work across totally different network or even across the Internet, but that's a topic for another time.

EDIT: Adding some clarification: Remote access still works on a public network, but name resolution will not. That is reason for needing to connect to the IP address rather than by name. Example:

Ah, that may have been the issue. I didn't know about that.

I ended up having to return home not long after I was chatting with you so didn't get a chance to try your suggestions. However, I will be going away again on Wednesday so will definitely do it then and I shall reply here to let you know how it goes.

Somehow I ended up deleting my previous reply so I'm just re-commenting in case it's of help to anyone else.

This is exactly what the issue was. I changed both laptops to Private and that was all it took. Love it when it can be such an easy fix. Thank you so much, I really appreciate your help.
