I need help with transferring files with Bluetooth...

    Hello all,

For some reason, I just started having problems sending files or pictures from my Samsung Galaxy S9+ phone to my laptop. I can send files from my phone to my laptop but I can't receive files from my phone. I also am having the same problem with my Lenovo tablet and another android phone I use for other purposes as well. In W10P settings on the "Bluetooth and other devices" page, it shows that all of the aforementioned devices are paired although it does not always indicated that the laptop and other devices are connected. I have unpaired and paired the phones and tablet several times as well as restarting the laptop and other devices in trying to reset them all but that does not help. My laptop is current with all W10 updates as well.

If anyone can help with this problem, I would be most grateful.

Have you tried Phone Link for Windows 10? It work with the Android app Link for Windows on my Samsung Phone. Phone Link connects to my phone with a wireless connection. I also have a Bluetooth connection to my phone but that is only to provide audio from it to my laptop.

With this setup I can drag and drop photos and screenshots from my phone onto my desktop. Note these photos are compressed versions. If I want to transfer full sized photos and screenshots I have to connect my phone to my laptop with a USB cable.

I installed an app on my iPhone called: File Transfer
    it uses BlueTooth
I can send/receive files to/from my computer with a USB BlueTooth I connect to my computer.

Check out your app store. You can find an app that can send/receive using BlueTooth that is compatible, that can go around this little weird inconvenience that the computer/phone is experiencing.

By is like watching paint dry there are so many versions and if they aren't the same on both devices it's a problem the speed and distance can vary a lot between versions

Why not transfer over wifi - many apps on google playstore, and much quicker than bluetooth.

Also, the easiest way is to simply connect pc to phone using a usb cable - then phone appears as a drive like a usb flash drive.

Agreed, much quicker and more reliable using the power cord included with the power adapter, USB-A to USB-C or maybe USB-A to Mini-B, connected to the computer, File Explorer usually sees as a drive.

Sorry for the late response to all of you who posted a suggestion to remedy my problem. Bluetooth had been an easy way for me to transfer pictures from my phone to my laptop for quite a while. I did have to use my USB cable since the problem started so I guess I will use that method from now on. I thank you all for your help and suggestions.
