How to enable IIS for remote access?

I can't follow the MS instructions.

I have IIS installed and my new Index.html in webroot.

Now I want it accessible from the internet. I have a permanent IP.

MS tells me to install Server Manager and then it tells me to install RSAT and I screwed around heaps looking for that and following screens that didn't match what I actually saw.

But I"ve got it now. I can get server manager but when I get in I suppose I have to add a server because it says there are none.

But I can't add anything. It says 'add other servers' (like there's already one, which apparently there isn't) but when I try is says the local server is not 'domain joined'. First mention of that. No clues on how to do it. Am I down the right path? What to do?

First doe sit work local? Then have you forwarded the ports on the router then to test on the internet you cant do it from within the local network you need to use a phone or somthing on a different network

Yes, all of that should be alright - I have had it working previously on another machine on our home lan.

We will come to that when we get to it. Right now the question is what is today's procedure for setting up your IIS so that your machine should be viewable from the web?

I say 'today's' because the story changes, of course. I was well on the way to installing some server manager, following web instructions, when I came across a page that said it comes standard with win10 - do not install it. And so on.

Hard sometimes to know you're following today's instructions. When I follow and I don't see what the instructions say I should be seeing that's when I think I'm probably following something that is out of date.

Win10 has been getting better and better. I would not be surprised to find that today it is very simple.
