Default registry value:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters] "AllowInsecureGuestAuth"=dword:0
Configured registry value:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters] "AllowInsecureGuestAuth"=dword:1
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/tr...led-by-default
Microsoft has win pro and home versions set to have this ""AllowInsecureGuestAuth"=dword:1" as default and on enterprise systems in a school or large network environments set to =dword:0
SO:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\LanmanWorkstation\
AllowInsecureGuestAuth set to 1 on a enterprise win pro in a home situation is safe
As stated by microsoft in the link above:
"Windows 10 Home and Pro are unchanged from their previous default behavior; they allow guest authentication by default."
So if you do have a nas on a home network and you are trying to access it from a windows enterprise pro machine it can be access normally by setting the lanmanworkstation guest access to =dword:1
