How to transfer files/pics from android phone to PC via BT?

I have paired and connected the two devices. In PC setting under Devices > Send/Receive file, when I hit "Receive", nothing happens. I need step by step instruction, please.
Oh, I found USB cable. Now the two devices are cable connected but still I have no clue how to transfer files. (I could in W7).

That just sets up the PC to be ready to receive files. It's just sitting there listening and waiting.

The next step has to be initiated from the phone where you have to choose to send a file to a paired device. When you do the PC will ask what you want to do with it.

Yes, I have connected the two devices with USB cable, but I do not see any hint on how to proceed with the transfer. My phone does not give any option on transfer. They (phone and PC) are both online with the same wifi network. The pics in Gallery (individually) have several options, but none on transfer to PC. I have transferred pics from my old phone to my other PC (W10) but I forgot how I did it. I remember it was just so easy. But W11 is definitely not as user friendly as W10 or W7. Now I wonder if this new phone is also as unfriendly as W11. (Yes, I have been having difficulty using this phone ... too many options and apps, many of which I do not understand)).

Once you have the phone and PC paired, and the PC is waiting to receive a file, then it should be easy. On my phone I select a photo and one of the options is 'Send'. When I select that I have a choice of sending it as a text message, or sending it by Bluetooth.

When you connect your phone via USB, you need to go to USB Settings on your phone and select Transferring files:

Then your device will appear in Windows File Explorer and you can access files on the phone:

I did not find option SEND in the phone. I ended up installing "Link to Windows" app. And I was able to send pics from gallery as e-mail attachment, and from the email pic, I saved it to my Picture folder. Problem solved. But I still do not know how to just transfer files between devices the old fashion way (w10 and w7). Yep, W11 is a pain.

I assume the phone is an Android? Then you need to Enable developer options and USB debugging

No. That is totally unnecessary. @NavyLCDR in his post did not show all the steps. Here is what he left out...

Connect the phone to the PC with a USB cable
On the phone swipe down from the top to show notifications
Locate the USB notification and open it

In the USB settings make sure Transferring files is selected.

Look for your phone in File Explorer

If you you double-click on it and nothing is shown that means you forgot to unlock the phone's screen

After you unlock the phone's screen the phone's storage will be shown

Double-click on the storage will show the contents. The phone's photos and screenshots will be in the DCIM folder.

If you have the "Link to Windows" app on your phone then you should try the next step on your PC. Windows 10/11 come with a program called "Phone Link". It allows you to make a wireless connection between your phone and PC. There is no guarantee it will work with your phone but no harm in trying it. With it you can view your latest photos on your phone and just drag and drop them onto your PC. desktop.

Note Phone Link works great for the most recent photos and screenshots. However, to work with older photos it is easier to find them and copy them by connecting the phone and PC with a USB cable.
