    Is there a software that will notify of me a change in IP address?


    Hello,

    I'm looking for a software that I can have running on Windows 10 that will notify me when my external IP address is changed.

    I do not have a static IP address from my ISP so I'll have to change the IP for my website manually every time the IP changes. It would be preferable if I could get a heads up by one of my always-on computers that the external IP has changed. Preferably by email or some kind of push notification service.

    Do you know if such a software exists?

    Just a comment, I have a Domain and it is with a Hosting firm, don't have to maintain a server myself. If I wanted to use it my ISP offers a Static IP at added cost instead of DHCP [Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol]. My address only changes at reboot or restart, restarting the Internet connection.

    My ISP do not offer a static IP to private households unfortunately. Only to companies...

    I also usually only get a IP change when the internet is restarted, but since I commute to work and will be away for days I do not know when that happens. I'd like som kind of notification when the IP has changed.

    Unfortunately none of the five suggested software seem to work...

    Three of them appear to be nearly 10 years old. One would not pick up the external IP, only the internal one. TrueIP would not send an email when the IP changes and so on...

    Still looking for further suggestions to software that can help with this

    Since as you mention having a Web site it implies you have paid to get a Domain name so I would take that as a complying requirement to have a Static IP address so as to make it easily found.

    I do not fully understand what you are saying there Berton, but I cant have a static IP as my ISP do not offer that to private persons. They only offer static IP to companies...

    Anyway the website is only used by me, and there is no real hassle changing the IP with the domain provider the few times it is needed every year. But I would very much like a notification when the IP changes anyway.

    Unfortunately I was unable to get any of the five suggested softwares to work...

    - did not report it?
    - could not be installed?

    Feel free to search for more.. I have no experience with any such so make no specific recommendation.

    IP Monitor: I was not able to install this one at all.
    Mr. IP: Did not detect the external IP, only the internal one
    IP Notifier: I did not get this one to work...
    IPChangeInformer: I did not get this one to work either
    TrueIP: Did work, but I do not get the SMTP email notification to work

    I see there is a paid alternative: Dynamic IP Notifier - Monitor IP Address - IP Address Notification
    But I'm not sure if this is a thrustworthy company and software? What do you think?

    I tested the ZIP (portable) version and can confirm that email notifications works (really well):

    ...despite my own ISP not knowing its correct SMTP port number... 465 didn't work; 587 did.

    Is there a software that will notify of me a change in IP address?-virgin_media_wrong_smtp_port.png

    So, IMO it's worth persevering with the SMTP settings.
