    Hi again, dalchina.

I just had a go at installing the Wireless LAN driver, again, this time it worked and I am now connected to the internet,
however it is very slow and the PC is also very slow taking a while to open programs and they are not running as quickly
    as they were.

For example my "Microsoft Train Simulator" run through Open Rails usually runs at
over 140 FPS but is now running at 80 to 90.

I have downloaded and burned to disk the Hiroms iso, perhaps this may find issues... But
how do I use it. I have booted to the DVD and I am currently at the Hiroms start screen but
have no idea where to go from here,

    Any help and advise appreciated.

    Regards

    Daniel

"Again, now you know which your PC is,
Please post the URL for the drivers download page for your MOBO."

I will have a go, but Im still not sure how to do it."

Medion was owned and operated very well by Aldi Germany for many years.

My family of three children and a wife have always used Medion until
recently when Aldi sold the brand to IBM China.

So after years of excellent support we find ourselves in limbo.
But I must say that Medion Australia are still a very good
    responder to problems.

Here is the only link to updates I could find.

    Content

It is probably the same as the one you found.

Hi, having been a carer I can well appreciate some of the problems... sorry to hear about your wife, particuarly.

Good that you've got the internet back.

As I understand it you have these remaining issues/situations:
    a. Can't boot to Safe Mode
    b. Have performed a factory reset (therefore to an older build of Windows).
    c. Do not (?) have access to a downloadable set of drivers
    d. Are experiencing slower performance than previously.

What is your current Windows build?
    command prompt: winver

    Reality check:
You are now running certain programs.
You said you performed a factory reset.
If so, you would have had to reinstall any 3rd party programs you are using (other than trialware provided with the PC.

    Is that what you did?

Or did you still have your user account, programs and data still present?

What also makes me thing you didn't do a factory reset is that you didn't have your NIC driver.
If you did do a factory reset, I can't see how you couldn't have.
Could you clarify what you actually did?

I would then want to make sure you can boot to Safe Mode before trying to address performance issues.

    Hi

I was able to reinstall my most used programs from their install executabes, and I had copies of their storage folders and
I copied them back and they work, albeit slowly.

I have also been able to boot into Safe Mode using startup option (5) with networking but there is no option to connect....

No idea whats happening, the Network is working fine in normal mode, except that it is slow.

    Cheers

    Thanks for confirming that.

Again, can you post your current Windows build? (winver)

    Considering Safe M. with networking:
    Dev. Manager: I see
    Cannot connect to the Internet-dev-man-1.jpg

Now booting to that does NOT mean you connect automatically.
    Cannot connect to the Internet-dev-man-2.jpg
    I had to do that:
    Cannot connect to the Internet-dev-man-3.png
    Cannot connect to the Internet-dev-man-4.jpg

    Considering performance:
How much free space do you have on C: ?

Boot and log on as normal. About 3 minutes after logging on and without launching more programs, capture a screenshot of your task manager, organising columns high to low as appropriate. You're looking for minimal resource usage.

Similarly, capture such a screenshot when a program is launching and running slowly.

Presumably your O/S is on your SSD. How long does a cold boot to lock screen take?

Please also get a copy of Hard Disk Sentinel (portable version available) - run that- check both disks- result on the GUI - green is good.

And the rest please? Can you boot to SM with N successfully if you enable the connection as I showed?

    Task man screenshots? HDS?

From the searchable Tutorial section (do have a look...invaluable)
    Take Screenshot in Windows 10
How to Upload and Post Screenshots and Files at Ten Forums

You can install it or use the portable one. Many people have done so. Excellent program.

    - actually I asked for 2- which one was that? Nothing unusual there, which is good.

    Also the other 2 things.

Pick a program that launches slowly which you can also launch in Safe Mode.
    How long does it take..
    a. in normal mode
    b. in Safe Mode

There's no one possible cause for slow behaviour.. anything from a virus to hardware issues.
From that task manager screenshot alone there's no excessive resource usage.

Lacking the Hard Disk Sentinel report, you could try disconnecting/removing the HDD for comparison.

You say you did a factory reset, then must have upgraded to the current build (you would have seen that happening as it would take a while and need a restart), so you effectively have a fresh install.

Technical analysis which gives a graphical representation of how time is used by events and processes is possible, but is demanding and requires familiarity with a free tool from MS - the Windows Performance Analyser and Recorder. However I doubt that's something you'd wish to try... (examples of usage and screenshots in threads here).

@MaloK - thoughts on 'slow performance' given the limited info? Thanks.
