    What's Wrong Can't Find Printer?

I have an HP 3015 cable connected to a computer on our home network.

I'd like to access that printer from other computers on the network and what I read seems to suggest that should be possible and should be easy to set up.

    But I can't do it.

I'm trying to find it from another computer on the network and I can never find it.

Can I ask: should it be possible? If so, how do I best do it?

What I see on the Internet is that printer has an Ethernet port. I have an HP LaserJet Pro and an HP OfficeJet Pro connected by Ethernet cable to my Wireless Router, any computer connected through that Router can use the printers if I install the software on them. Win10 and Win11 are pretty good in finding them as is Linux, at least for the basics. And Windows Fax and Scan [in Windows Accessories] usually finds them after the drivers are installed. Nice part of this system is that no one computer has to be running.

Ah, good one. So if I cabled to the router it should work. Good to know.

But if I can find another solution it'd be good. For the router is rooms away from where I and the printer are.

I don't mind other people having to trek to my room to pick up a printout, but I'd like having it right here for me.

    :)

could run a cable the whole house but I've done that before. Quite a hassle. Going through doorways, crossing corridors...

What is the limiting factor preventing moving the Modem/Router closer to the computers? What type of Internet Service do you have?

Shelf space, space generally. And other devices plugged directly into the wireless router.
My Internet service is provided by Telstra Australia. I'm not sure what's meant by 'what type'. It's fibre optic from the node I believe if that's what's meant.

I have a second printer which I use for colour but not bulk mainstream standard printing and that should be wireless connectable and I can't figure how to do that, either.
That one is an hp 3250.

The 3015 is not the one you show ( the P3015) but the 'all in one' , the plain '3015'.

Make sure the printer is turned on, then press the Windows and "i" keys simultaneously on the computer to which the printer is connected, click "Devices", "Printer and Scanners", click on the printer, select "Properties", click on the "Sharing" tab and make sure sharing is enabled. If not, enable it and click "OK".

That's what I meant, different types of service give different speeds and different costs.

Using your 2 links shows both units are All-in-One just that, as I recall from times past, the 3015 has sheet-feed copying and the other has a flat screen copying.

As for the Router, most have 1 Uplink to the Modem [unless it's a Router/Modem combo] and 4 device ports. Mine is only a Wireless Router [separate Wireless DSL Modem] but I have more machines and needed to add an 8-port Switch to gain the capacity. The Switch can actually be in a different location [e.g. where the most machines are] as long as the length involved meets the category of the Ethernet cable.

well we're not there yet but so far you're right it was not shared.... looking good... :)

Later: hmmm.... all looks good but nothing prints. Find the printer on other machine. Send a print to it. Doesn't print. Isn't in the print queue.

Press the Windows and "R" keys on the remote computer, type or paste the following into the "Open" box and click "OK".

    msdt.exe /id PrinterDiagnostic
