Re: a wifi problem with a hp envy inspire 7955e printer

I made a move from 1 apt to an other in the same complex. The wifi connection from the HP Envy Inspire 7955e printer to my Gateway laptop via the routers wifi was working just fine at the old apt. Now the printers wifi won't connect to my laptop. The router and the laptop wifi connection are working fine. The HP Envy Inspire 7955e printer will work fine on the USB cable connection.

Also I am having paper jam problems on my HP Laser Jet P1006 printer. Both printers where in the same box. The laser jet printer was also working just fine before the move.
The volunteers from the Veterans Admin assistance group that helped move the heavy stuff were a bit ruff with the box's and other things. So far the only problems electronic equipment wise are the printers. I haven't unpacked the Amateur Radio equipment yet. I am praying. that box is in tacked. Though I can't scream to loud because I didn't have to pay out even 1 wooden buffalo nickel.

    Hi.

Sounds like something came loose or was damaged in the move.

Start with just the HP Envy Inspire 7955e printer and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

    https://support.hp.com/us-en/help/printscandoctor

Ensure that the printer cartridges are correctly seated and try printing a test page (see front panel) before you begin.

If the printing is OK, move onto the other printer and check it.

    Post back.

BTW the HP Windows tower that I have isn't setup yet. I need to get some wheels for the tower when I get payed on July 1st so it will roll easer on the rug then the small plastic studs on it now.
I did do a test page on the Envy Inspire 7955e printer using the USB cable plugged into the laptop. On the USB cable the Envy Inspire 7955e printer works fine. But the Print and Scan Doctor prog doesn't see the Envy Inspire 7955e printer wifi setup period. I have tried many times to get the Envy Inspire 7955e printer's wifi to see the available wifi's in the building plus my wifi but the printer doesn't see them using the printers touch pannel. My laptop and my cell phone see all of the secured wifi's in the apt building.

    Hi.

Power off the printer and unplug the USB. Then turn it on and look at your Wi-Fi settings in the Settings Menu (on the printer.)
    Do you see your Router?

Even though I can't get into the other secured wireless router's in my apt building. I can still see them on my laptop and my cell phone. I don't see anything on the router search on the printer, it is a blank page. I just did a printout of the printer's network config page. It comes back with:
    network status offline
    active connection type none
    802.11 status disconnected
    wifi status off
    network name SSID none
    wifi direct status off

I have no clue as to how the printer's network config got this way. I now understand why the printer's router search isn't seeing anything. But I don't know how to fix it. The printer's manual is still packed away somewhere, not that the manual that came with the printer was of any use anyways.

BINGO the printer now see's my wifi router and is connected to my router. I had to reset the Envy Inspire 7955e printer network settings to the default settings to get this far. BUT HP scan doctor still can't see the Envy Inspire 7955e printer. Though scan doctor sees the laser jet P1006 printer even though the P1006 printer is unplugged, both power and USB. Also the Envy Inspire 7955e printer is grayed out in Win devices and printers panel.

    @reble -

    Using Add/Remove Programs...

It might be a good idea to cleanly uninstall all the HP Printer Software and download/install the newest distribution from here after rebooting your PC and resetting the printer again:

    https://support.hp.com/us-en/printer...del/2100402074

    To recap -

Uninstall all HP Printer Software (look for every HP software instance) from your PC and then Reboot.
Reset your Envy Inspire 7955e printer to defaults and then shutdown, wait 15 seconds and reboot the printer.
Install the new Printer Software and let's see how you do.

We can address the LaserJet after, it can simply be turned off for now.

    Thanks.

BINGO test print via the wifi connection is now working. I had to delete the Envy Inspire 7955e printer drivers in the Win devices and printers panel then reinstall the drivers on the laptop to get the printer working on the wifi connection. At lease I now have 1 printer working 100%. Thanks to all for your input.

OK, if that works for you. I would have done it as posted above. Glad to be of assistance.

    Take care.
