    Network Connection

The indicator in my Taskbar shows I'm not connected even after I go through the procedure to connect and I do get connected - I can do all sorts of things on the internet but some functions (signing-in to Cortina, the news/weather) won't work and gives me a message that I'm not connected.

    1) What do I do to get the the correct indicator in the Taskbar?

    2) Why are some functions telling me I'm not connected?

Check the Device Manager > Network. Any indications (usually a symbol) of problems ?

Your red mark is covering it up, but it looks like there is a Connected Network Icon, just to the right of the Mic Icon?
Press the Windows key +R and type ncpa.cpl and press Enter. This shows all of your internet connections. What does the Ethernet Icon say? You can right click that icon and choose Status or Diagnose to troubleshoot.

No. That is the speaker icon.

Done that. It says it fixed the problem but I still have the same situation.

It tells me to plug in an Ethernet cable. But why should I need that when I'm on WIFI. Also, why is it that I can connect with you and plenty of other websites if I'm not connected? But if I try to sign-in to Cortina or try to open the weather/news, I get I'm told I'm not connected to a network. Strangely, these are both MS products I believe.

Thanks but, if I'm only on a local network, how come I can talk to you and connect with loads of websites - one of my own which is serviced in Cyprus - not local.

Might this be an Edge browser problem? Those Windows functions you're having trouble with use Edge.

Do you use Edge? If not then try it and see if the problem occurs then.

I'm on Edge and if I'm on Chrome, it's the same situation - as you said, the two functions use Edge. (I believe my Edge is up-to-date).

I have the same problem. This situation is totally random. It happens when I leave the desktop off for a few hours.

I found a way to solve:

1 Go to Settings -> "Network & Internet"

    2 Click "Network Reset"

    Restart the desktop (or whatever)

    After restarting the desktop:

1 Go to "Control Panel" -> "Network and Sharing Center"

    2 Click "Ethernet", right

3 On the "Ethernet Status" screen, click Properties

4 On the "Networking" screen, click "Configure"

    5 Click "Advanced"

Now I present the modifications I do for the icon to appear normal:

    6 "Large Send Offload V2 (IPv4)" Disabled

    7 "Large Send Offload V2 (IPv6)" Disabled

    8 "Speed & Duplex" -> "1.0 Gbps Full Duplex"

    9 Click "OK"

Wait a few seconds (5s maximum). Ready.

For me, the icon returns to normal and Ethernet works perfectly.

    I hope I've helped.

A million thanks! I only needed to do steps 1 & 2 & restart and it was all fixed.
