Great story. It highlights the importance of negotiating. The price schemes and policies are bizarre.

Indeed. It is shocking, what can be done, if you reach the right person.

I don't know if you're wired or wireless, but you may want to check into one of these Gigabit NICs.

    Guys,

I unmarked this as solved. to add an update. Tomorrow I will revisit this thread an again, make it as solved.

    But...

I am doing this for the benefit, of all that may care to read.

After almost 4 hours (and a lot of anxiety) on the phone with my long time ISP, finally I walked away happy.

Kindness and being relentless, rules the day!

After speaking to several Reps, and one dropped call, I am beyond pleased.

Although I gave up all the premium movie channels, that I never watched anyway, I was afforded the opportunity to pick 15 channels that I watched/liked... Discovery, Science, Travel, Natgeo, Smithsonian, Animal Planet......and so on, plus all my local channels.

As for the Internet speed issue, I was able to get (not a decrease) but an increase. Although my old computer will still only allow me to have 100Mb down, and 10 up, should it be replaced tomorrow, I would be getting, 300 down and 30 up. Triple the speed.

Important to mention, all this, including the price, is locked in for 3 years.

Now to my favorite part. Effective tomorrow (end of my billing cycle), my monthly billing is lowered from 235 dollars a month, to only 68 (sixty eight) dollars a month total (tax included) Again, locked in for 3 full years. 68 dollars a month!

Fantastic news. But it doesn't stop there. Because of the dropped call (again, much anxiety), and customer loyality... they gave me a 100 dollar credit. So, the next month and a third, is on them.

After that, 68 bucks a month, for the nest 3 years.

Everything was switched this afternoon, while I was on the phone. I have tested (Reboot, test...reboot/test) my Internet speed 3 or 4 times, and it is steady at 98/100 DL, and 9 or 10 up.

Unbelievable isn't it? But very much true.

Take aways... Never give up. But most importantly, Be kind to whomever you're dealing with.

    Thank you all, again.

ISP are making changes in their selling packages every couple of years... Usually it is the best choice to update it to the latest. Guess this is what happened in your case.

I have also upgraded my internet/TV to the latest offer from my ISP recently. Better for less money.

    Anyway, congrats WXC

The upload limit is often set by the ISP. Mine is 200 down but only 25 up.
No, I get that. But he said he had 200 down and 20 up from HIS ISP, but his pc was so old that he could only get 100 down and 10 up. I was confused on why he couldn't get the full 20 up even on an old PC.
