Brand new Windows 10 PC Build can only "see" 5Ghz network

    Hello all,

I just finished my brand new PC build yesterday. I only have one issue that I haven't managed to fix. I can only connect to the 5Ghz network in the house, none of the other networks are available for connection. However, my laptop and phone can see and connect to the 2.4 and the 5Ghz networks, as well as, being able to see the neighbours networks. I downloaded inSSIDer and the only network that shows up is the 5Ghz network.

    Specs:
    OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit
    CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10900 CPU @ 2.80GHz
Motherboard: MSI Z490 MPG Gaming Carbon Wifi
    Network Adapter: Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz
    Realtek PCIe 2.5GbE Family Controller

On a SHAW Cable Hitron router. My landlords have control of it, so if I need to do any changes to that end, it might be difficult.

    Regards

Look in the WiFi adapter's entry in Device manager.
It's Advanced tab might have settings that limit its frequency response.

You might also search online for that adapter using a search term such as
[name of WiFi adapter] Advanced settings
Most of the entries are unintelligible but you might be lucky enough to find, as I once was, that somebody with suitable skills has published a guide for that specific adapter's Advanced tab settings.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

An antenna should have come with the motherboard. You just need to connect it.

Do you have separate SSID’s for the 2.4Ghz & the 5Ghz?

Yeah the SSIDs are separate. The antenna didn't come with the motherboard because I bought it "open box," on ebay. I ordered a couple off amazon last night. My understanding is without an antenna you can receive strong signals (like 5GHz), so I think it will fix the issue. Thanks everyone!
