    Disappearing Network Drives

    Hi Steve108,

Thanks for your reply, however most of the suggested solutions apply to machines in a domain, mine is in a workgroup.

    Hi,

What happens when you manually try to map one of the missing drive from command prompt ?

And when you run the cmd file that maps your drives does it fail... Sometimes or All the time ?

Does it fail only because it run at startup and if you run it later it works ? This can happen if the cmd runs before network is ready.

The method I use in Workgroups is to map the drive and let Windows manage their re-connections.

    Make global connections persistent:
    Code:
    net use /persistent:yes
    Map drive:
    Code:
    net use P: \\ComputerName\ShareName
If you need to enter credentials:
    Code:
    net use P: \\ComputerName\ShareName /savecred
Then let Windows manage re-connection on restart...

If you go to map drives in gui do they have the reconnect check enabled ?

Alternatively you can with windows Pro set group policy to force the computer to wait for network before logon. and run your logon script from there.

    Hi MaloK,

    Thanks for your suggestions.
I tried the following but this time it did not show in file explorer.

net use z: \\mybooklive\backuplive /savecred having done net use /persistent:yes previously.

Ok, its a mybooklive, things can be a little different.

If the command succeed, it could take a little while before the drive actually appears in your Explorer.

After it's been mapped. Can you access it from the cmd ?

    for example:
    Code:
    Dir P:

Ok, that's good, wait a moment to see if it will come around.

Check your MyBookLive model on WD if a firmware update is available,

If there is... Follow the instructions to proceed to upgrade your device.

Before doing your update, delete every mapping to the drive on every computer.

    Code:
    net use * /delete
If you have mapping to other Machines that you don't want to lose:
Go trough all MyBook connections one by one :
    Code:
    net use P: /delete
