I have enabled the guest network with SSID2 on 5 Ghz (hotspot will not allow it
to configure same band as primary, SSID1). No devices, as I suspected, log into
it as no clients have 5 Ghz capability.

So looks like a trek to site is only option.

What I do not understand is why the 7 layer protocol does not manage traffic MAC to MAC
address, with SSID qualifier, hence allow another network to exist on same band. Maybe its
because I am trying to use a single band NIC with 1 MAC address and the clients cannot figure
out whose traffic it is due to SSID not qualifying traffic along with MAC address.

Sorry to ear that the computer interface is not dual-band wifi...

Indeed it seems that you will have to go on site... But you can tell yourself that you explored every possibility before.

The fact that you cannot enable multiple SSID on the device is probably more caused by software restrictions than anything else. The logistics of it does not require special hardware and many cheap routers do it without problems.
