Good question - has to do with the fact that OBS and VLC can capture anything I want. I want a certain Twitch stream for example or a YouTube video, with no ads. Right now my crappy "Smart" TV doesn't have any capabilities like that. If I could just use VLC or OBS it would work.
Okay, so that last method I lined won't allow you to cast/project whatever is happening on your PC monitor to your TV, is my question/confusion? If not, then what exactly is it going to show on your TV?

The "Cast To..." Method only lets you stream files Windows Media Player recognizes as valid Media files and is very limited. No way to pass in a YouTube video or Twitch live stream.

Samsung TV has a YouTube app but no ad block ability, and absolutely nothing for Twitch.

I use something called Streamlink which grabs Twitch streams and pulls in the video natively bypassing the ads, and I stream it through VLC. If I could just send that over to my TV, it would be perfect!

With OBS, I have even more options. I could create a virtual camera and capture literally anything I want, and even use VLC to stream it to somewhere else.
