The right way to unplug and then replug a powerline adapter

In my case, I'm using a pair of Netgear powerline adapters left over from a Comcast-only secondary router upgrade. I'm now connecting a laser printer to my router on a different floor of the house.

However, when I needed to temporarily unplug the powerline adapter, and then replugged it, the printer was offline. The powerline adapter didn't detect the printer, according to its indicator LEDs. After much experimentation, I found that the only way to get the printer recognized was to turn off the printer, plug in the powerline adapter with the printer cable connected, and THEN to turn on the printer. That worked, and all is well again with my printer.

Did you try turning the printer off and back on after you had initially unplugged/re-plugged the power line adapter?

Yes, and that did NOT work.
