    Ethernet Connection Occasionally Drops

On occasion my ethernet connection drops and an auto-configuration address gets assigned by Windows 10. I purchased an ethernet card thinking the problem with the ethernet that is built into the motherboard, but the ethernet connection still randomly drops. The ethernet connection will randomly start working again. Yes, I disabled the onboard ethernet in the BIOS, so conflicts would not be an issue. I have no idea if the issue can be fixed or not. I have had this issue since I purchased this used computer in 2019. If it is the motherboard, then I will just live it with until the computer is replaced. I realize the issue is probably not easily fixable, but any suggestions will be appreciated. The DNS shown is the DNS of my VPN provider. Let me know if you need any other information.

Does this happen if you dont use vpn? If your using vpn and the dhcp lease is set for renewal then widows is trying to find it on the vpn subnet. How long is you lease time. You may get around it by increasing rh dhcp lease or better still set a fixed IP or stop using vpn

It still happens with the VPN turn off. I increased router's lease from 120 to 1440 minute, with the same result. I assigned the computer a static IP in Windows and in the router. While I was replying on my laptop, the connection reestablished on the desktop. I am not confident if the static IP will alleviate the problem. I will let you know the connection drops again. Thanks.

Connection dropped again, with static IP. No clue what to try next.

Lots of errors ans signs of malaware run a full online virus scan Free Online Virus Removal | ESET as avast and defender is corrupted then remove avast and get their removel tool to get rid of whats left behind

Having spybot a 1,000 of entries in the host will give problems reset host file if you set the dns as I told you that block malware etc instead of slowing your pc

You cant get an ip as some other pc has the same IP

I did a scan with ESET and it did not find anything. I checked the host file and it had no entries. I did a rescan with FSRT, and computer name error no longer appears. The second scan results are attached.

    FRST.txt
    Addition.txt

    I did run:

    dism.exe /Online/Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

    dism.exe /Online/Cleanup-image /StartComponentCleanup

    SFC /ScanNow

The SFC /ScanNow command found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. The CBS.log is attached.

    CBS.zip

I am doing a Defender scan. Will post results when scan is finished.

Would a clean install be helpful to fix the rest of the errors?
