    Can website track my MAC

    Hello community,

I decided here because of i thought its network related too.

I would like to know: can websites, for examples Ebay.com, Amazon.com etc, see my MAC address and serial numbers of MB or CPU?

What specs can they track from me when i am visiting their page?

    Thanks.

In most cases it will track your IP only in general it would be hard to get any other info apart from a rough location some offer an app to obatain info like that like ram suppiers to ensure you get the right ram. You could by law do a GDPR request which they must anser in 30 days which they would have to supply all the data they hold on you. To save data cost money so most wouldnt even to know usless info to them

    NO to both
The MAC address is the unique address assigned to the hardware used fr the internet connection
eg the wireless adpater or the ethernet
if you type on a admin cmd prompt
    ipconfig /all
the physical address shown is the MAC address

That address is used for the router to assign an IP address - that being the element that is visible when you visiting a website - the public IP address

The MAC address is in the firmware of the device and is put there by the manfacturer of the hardware

The only way a MAC address can be seen is if you or someone has acquired unwanted malicious spyware/,malware that allows it to be seen.

That is my understanding of the situation - perhaps someone else will offer another opinion.

Even if it could be seen it is of no great use to anyone.

I have the distinct feeling that there is more to your question, than is revealed in your post.
If I am correct then a full explanation of the reason for the question may help us to advice you

and if you are still using
    Windows 10 LTSC (version: 1809)
you should update to a later version

Hello, the information the sites can easily get generally isn't that much. IP, rough location, browser type and version number (and from that probably Windows / Mac), display size, PC / mobile. Mostly just stuff to help provide a good browsing experience. I used to have a website with vewier stastics, I can't rememeber any more info than that.

Mostly, we give website our information, by completing the specs page in this forum, for example. Or by running a scanning tool for component ID and purchase, started by you, not just grabbed. By running a benchmark or other tests.

One thing to point out though, I used a friend's computer and used MS Edge to check my MS email account. I looked at my account on my own PC after that, it had listed my friend's laptop as one of my devices. Not actually mine, but one I could click register to make it happen. However, it did show me the serial number, installed memory and other information. Most of this I would not be a fan of if someone used my PC just to check their email.

Thanks all of you for your fully explanations. Very informative.

and if you are still using
    Windows 10 LTSC (version: 1809)
Yes i am still on it. as i search online 1809 is latest version.

I noticed that when i visited one website my PC CPU Fan got high turning with sounds, and after i checked task manager cpu and also hdd was above 80%.

so i was curious if sites makes any mining and also taking that informations from us.

how we are safe if that is true.

    You can find out here:

This is a demonstration of all the data your browser knows about you.
All this data can be accessed by any website without asking you for any permission.
Most of the data points are educated guesses and not considered to be accurate.
What every Browser knows about you

    or here:

What information can a website find out about you when you visit it? A lot more than you probably realize. This tool lists information that any website, advertisement, and widget can collect from your web browser. Such information could be used to identify you and/or track your behavior using tactics like IP lookups and browser fingerprinting. While none of this may be considered personally identifiable information (PII), the profile drawn from all these pieces of information can be so distinct that it can only plausibly match a single person.

I may be wrong but if this is your home computer not a commercial/business setup then using the LTSC - 1809 in your case is not the way to go
as outlined in the summary on this link
    https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/...ed/ba-p/293181

The Long-Term Servicing Channel a tool designed for a specific job. When used for the right job, it’s a great solution, but when misaligned, it can be like trying to drive a screw with a hammer. It’s, at best, unsatisfying, and likely problematic at some point.

If you understand the considerations listed above, have secured hardware and support to align with the intended duration of usage, and have secured support for your applications, the LTSC can provide your organization with years of secure, static operation, with full servicing and support for its 10-year lifespan. For most use cases; however, I recommend the Semi-Annual Channel as the better option for security, stability, and hardware/application capabilities, and the overall experience of your end users.

I am not 100% sure but if you have WebRTC enabled on your browser it may leak that information.

Most security minded people disable it

    Websites can...
