    USC C dock ethernet issue

Hello I have a HP elitebook 840 G7 and I have just got a i-tec docking station that works with other devices when it comes to the ethernet cable connection
When I plug it it my laptop everything apart from internet connection works, I have noticed that im missing (or am I) a network adapter for Ethernet, I have my Wifi one there as well as one for my virtual machine network

any idea on this? I have tried creating a network adapter manually but failed and i could not find anything on the internet that would help me out

Also I'm missing an Settings>network&internet>Ethernet setting
The laptop does not have an RJ45 port, that's why I wanted to use the docking station

    thanks

All I can offer is that I have a small Notebook without the Ethernet RJ45 port so I got a USB to RJ45 adapter for the times I may need more than the Wireless connection.

Also available for USB C but my 11" Notebook is older and doesn't have that.

Check that the laptop supports Ethernet. Maybe it doesn´t.

It seems you need either HP Thunderbolt Dock 120W G2, or HP USB-C Dock G5 for Network connection.

There maybe some incompatibility with the i-tec docking station.

The only issue with the StarTech USB to RJ45 adapter I have is that it doesn't give the icon in the Notification Area but does show in Device Manager and the browsers recognize properly. The only issue I see is no support for Bluetooth which usually is part of the Wireless adapter in a Notebook.
