It's not really that expensive, especially if you consider the many different uses I from my internet speed. I stream a lot of different videos, and I make money from my internet, so it pays for itself. Having such fast internet allowed me to get rid of direct tv/cable tv, which was costing me $190 a month (combined with my internet).

I play a lot of online games, and having a faster internet connection, gives you a slight (sometimes a huge) advantage, over other players, because your character/gun/whatever responds faster.

Honestly, I'm not sure how much bandwidth I use. Centurylink doesn't have a cap, like most providers do, so it isn't displayed on my bill.

We haven't always had good internet here in Las Vegas. For the longest time (until a few months ago), we were stuck with Cox Cable, and those people are the devil. Fairly low bandwidth caps, internet always going offline, and the moment you reach your bandwidth cap, your internet speeds are reduced considerably.

What's more, is my side of town (South side of Vegas) is the first to receive Centurylink's Fiber Optic service. I'm happy to have the net that I do; before I had Fiber, I used Cox's cable internet and it was about the same price, for much slower speeds.

I was just interested what that speed and bandwidth can do, most I have seen here is 100Mbps on fiber network. On my 15/3 Mbps whenever I download things goes up to about 6Mbps with live stream up to about 3.5 Mbps, yet just this month I have incoming traffic of 140 GB and my total since July is 1.74 TiB. All measured by DuMeter that is running all the time. I don't have a cap on amount though. Just finished downloading Ubuntu 14.10 and DLed speed never went over 5 Mbps. although 3 times that was available. DL speed depends mostly on connections and FTP it's coming from.

Do you actually live in Serbia? And have you ever lived in the U.S.? The large majority of companies here in America, have bandwidth caps.

Companies in the U.S. started putting bandwidth caps on people's internet around 5 years ago. Before that, there were almost no service providers capping people's net.

Once these companies realized they could make money by doing this, nearly all of them put some cap in place, and they used the excuse that by limiting or punishing people who reached their bandwidth cap, the service providers would be able to offer their services to people's homes who live in much more secluded areas. An example of this would be someone living in the middle-of-nowhere, in Louisiana, out in the swamps.

At one point I lived in Louisiana, and the only service provider we were able to get, was AT&T and the only service they offered us, was DSL 10mb download with 5mb upload. When we first had their DSL, they had no bandwidth cap. When they introduced their cap though, it was something like 100gigs (which goes very quickly when 3 people are watching netflix, playing games, and downloading stuff) and every 10gigs over that 100gig cap, we had to pay $5. This increased our bill by a ton. We originally paid $55 a month for their DSL and after the bandwidth cap was introduced, our bill went up to $125.

Needless to say, AT&T is a horrible company, that treats their customers like garbage. They abuse their customers, and rip them off. I hope they go out of business. These companies that introduced bandwidth caps on their internet services, are greedy pigs, who deserve to be put out of business.

That's cool. Times definitely have changed. I remember the days of playing Myth II Soulblighter on AOL dialup. Those were some good times, albeit, slow times =D

As for your earlier question, how much of my bandwidth do I ACTUALLY use? It's hard to say, as I have never monitored it. I would like to think I don't come close to using even half of it, let alone more. Between streaming on twitch, downloading and uploading, watching things on YouTube on my T.V. and my wife using her iPad or iPhone, I'm not sure.

Recently I've been playing a lot of different games on Steam, and streaming those to my twitch account. One of the main things I get to enjoy now, is being able to almost instantly play any new game I buy, because it takes so little time to download anything I purchase.

I recently re-downloaded and installed World of Warcraft, which -fully upgraded- was around 30gigs, and that took me about 25 minutes to download.

I hope some day soon that everyone is able to enjoy the same internet speed that I currently have. It makes using the internet that much more enjoyable.
