This was very strange. I signed back up for World of Warcraft monthly plan for the New upgrade coming soon. With the rebuilt WinX SSD, I need to download the entire game, all 28GB of it. Much to my surprise, the entire 28 GB download took just under 34 minutes! I also did a speed measurement in the middle and indeed saw the counter drop 1GB in 1 minute and 18 seconds. Once it got going it never dropped below 25MB/s, spent most of its time at 28MB/s, and even reached speeds of

How the hell does a file download at 1GB every 80 seconds with my posted Ookla speed being 107Mbps?

The file was not compressed as I showed the folder being 27.8GB in size and my total downloads last night was 33GB according to COX.

then I tried to do the math.

30MB/s times 80= 2.4GB every 1 minute and 20 sec rather than the measured speed of 1GB every 80 sec.

    1,000,000,000 (1GB) / 80 = 12.5MB/s

WTH? I am not complaining mind but I don't even think I can get a file transferred that fast over my home network!

EDIT OK, the whole 32MB/s that Battle.net was displaying is WRONG. Here is my old HP computer tutor's answer:

    "I repeat….

Your first two sentences both equate to close to the 109 Mbit per second you measured with Speed Test.

28 GigaBytes in 34 Minutes is 224 Gigabits in 2040 seconds or 110 Mbits per Second. Be careful of the Bytes vs bits.

1 GigaByte in 80 sec is 12.5 MegaBytes per Second or 100 Mbits per Second.

Both sound reasonable for being twice what you used to get from Cox and about what Speed Test said. A long test is always preferable.

"Consistent 28 MegaBytes per second" is 224 Megabits per second. Since this is over twice as fast as 34 Minute test of the entire file I suspect the measurement is false."

There are some different measurements for that. KBps, Kbps, KiB and Mib too.

The UK is the 80th largest country in the world, about the same size as New Zealand. The US has 12 states larger than the UK. It is a lot easier to run high speed internet through a small, highly populated area and more profitable too.
All this is to say your high internet speed is envious! Welcome to the forums and thanks for the post.
