    Don't blame me, Sqrly started it, I just tried it. Anyway, that's not true internet speed (to ISP) but only to Netflix server(s).

    That's the only problem around here, no way will we get Virgin and their great speeds. At best I will get just over 60Mbps down and 18/19Mbps upload.

    To get those Virgin speeds needs actual fibre broadband to the house not as it is at present with fibre just from the exchange to the street cabinet then continues over the original wires to the house. But which would you rather have good internet speed or living in a rural coastal village.

    You got it right. Fiber to node (FTN) will get up to 100Mbps only. Fiber to home (FTH) will give you gigabit speed. I am on FTH ATM.

    With speeds like that do they give you unlimited data? My ISP gave me a free upgrade to what they call Internet 300 but they cut my maximum monthly data limit.

    It doesn't make sense if one has a gigabit speed with limited monthly usage.

    Good thing in our area, it's unlimited (Bell Canada).

    Hi folks

    I'm 100 metres away from router and 50 metres away from Wifi extender

    So on Wifi I think this is pretty good

    We have totally unlimited -- what's the point of > 1 Gb/s with a cap !!!!!! you'll use it all up in about 5 mins flat !!!

    (On Lan I get over 5Gb/s -- however since I'm often sent to "The doghouse" (my shed) by "she who must be obeyed" !!! to work I have to use the wifi and I have a largish garden so 100 metres long way from router. !!)

    No problem with Internet at this speed over wifi and through a wifi extender as well -- not downloading 97 movies in ultra ultra super 8K UHD !!!

    @CountMike

    No problem either with accessing Netflix servers / SKY sports / Other streaming services at 1080p -- at 4K UHD with 2 or 3 users in the shed over wifi could be a problem but if we're watching U.K Premier league Football (with proper round ball !!) and drinking beers the 4K UHD service works just fine - even through a VPN ( have to go via Irish republic to get Sky sports in Iceland) Anyway she often come in at half time with "refreshments" - I think she's a bit jealous of "The Man Den".

    Cheers
