    All those tests are good only to check your internet speed with your ISP. Only real speed is to monitor up/download speed wile you are downloading from and uploading to specific server.

    Yep, CM is right about download speeds but, at least you know if you are being short changed by your ISP on the speed you pay for. Also depends on the time of day and if on a cable network then, it also depends on how many people on the same node.

    Downloading from the Net is always dependent on the servers you download from.

    Take Steam for instance, if you download a game and check the download speed, most of the time Steam will saturate your link with the available bandwidth at your end. In your case, you should be able to download a game or program from Steam at around 20MB/second. If, OTOH, you download say from MS {a standalone security update} then, MS will only give you the bandwidth they have available at the time of this download.

    For me, the best time to do any kind of work on the Net is around the time of this post.

    This is what I pay for: line is a 50MB/s download and 2 MB/s upload. {yeah, uploads suck}

    This is what Ookla says:

    my reading can vary within a couple of mins so I naturally see it as 'average'. I have been on approx 380 for a while. Got some mail from Virgin the other day saying its 350 as normal. Bit late but good.

    On OOKLA current speeds read 288.90 and 21.18. As kids are off school now for Easter, thats expected; thousands of kids playing online.
