I was paying $120 per month four years ago for 20 Mbps internet and TV with Time Warner.
Then it went up to $140. Then more. Then more. Then more.
Two years ago Time Warner offered to increase every customer's speed by 5x. Since I had 20 Mbps, the upgrade put me at 100 Mbps. (Actually I'm getting 117 Mbps.)
They also said there would be no price increase. Well ... Time Warner's pants are on fire. When they say no price increase they mean (a) $20 price increase on the service and (b) $2 per month increase on the rented POS modem.
So I bought my own modem. That was in Nov 2015. The savings on the rental paid for the modem in 8 months.
Anyway the price went up still more. It's now $218 per month.
So finally Google is offering service in my area. They put down fiber a year ago and now they're doing hookups. My outside dig happened yesterday. The inside work will happen "soon".
And the price for their 100 Mbps internet ... plus full TV package plus full-home DVR service comes in at $30 less than Time Warner. And the Time Warner service had only one DVR in the price. And that DVR can only record two programs at once. The Google DVR will do a bunch more.
So bye-bye Time Warner.
