Great speed but you are still limited to the speed of a server download is coming from. Nothing can arrive until it leaves origin. Even fastest servers limit download speed because they have to share bandwidth with many users downloading or even just accessing that server.
On that Steam server you mentioned, you would get same DL speed with 100Mb/s as you do with this one. Saving to a fast SSD may improve DL speed but not by much. Even an HDD can easily absorb and write speeds at about 150Mb/s, SATA SSD up to 500 and good M2 SSD about 1000 Mbs.
We all know the source is the key but regardless if your system cant write as fast as the data coming down it wont hit the max speed and is then limited to your systems weakest link.

As for Steam, when I had the 124 I never saw 55. I only saw 13-15 as the max. which makes sense.. 15x8 = 120 so that accounts for that. The 55x8 would be 440 which is close to the drives spec - Samsung 840 ProSustained Sequential Read540 MB/sSustained Sequential Write520MBps

Overall having my speed is great for mass downloads at the same time on multiple units without seeing any degradation in my speed. I will note that if I am streaming while gaming and also have my 6 camera security system streaming it will start to bog down a bit and may drop my stream for lack of quality.

My fiber shown above is about $150 a month with basic cable and no data cap.

Cost without cable TV, no other fees nor taxes, and no contract, for FIOS 100/100 service: $40/mo for 1st year, $55/month for 2nd year, $70/mo 3rd year and beyond.

Welcome to TenForums, @ssommers. Good to see you've joined.

Nothing wrong with that. I really liked/enjoyed 8.1. Just recently totally moved over to Windows 8.3.
