It never occurred to me to ask this, but is $40/mo. a reasonable price for 6-7 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up?
(I'll get banned if I repeat the phrase I used when I saw some of those other speeds.)
I think it depends on where you live. In Europe, they tend to get excellent bandwidth fo very little. In the US it seems to cost much more for way less. I live in a very rural area where we have 1 option for high speed internet. For the past 10 years I have paid $50 a month for half of the speeds you quoted. (3 down and .25 UP). They have just upgraded their equipment and came out with a plan for high speed for 'new' customers for what I was paying. After I called them and 'discussed' it with them they decided to upgrade me too. So, for the same money I get 24/1 now. But, it's a Bonded DSL. Speedtest most of the time will not read both DSL lines and only reads 1 of them. Almost every other bandwidth testing service reads both. Some places in the US, you can get a lot more for a little less. So, it just depends on what your options are. This is what I get now.
