That's the same marketing strategy some mobile carriers use. They are very aggressive in offering unlimited data use, unlimited calls and unlimited text. That's because they have limited coverage and poor signals. Even inside your office cubicle you cant get a signal which keeps your usage on a lower side.
Not sure if any of our mobile carriers offer unlimited nowadays, a few years ago they did but now they are restricting it (my mobile only has 750MB/Month)
But as reception here is even worse than BB, I only get a GPRS signal so find it difficult to use much mobile data, unless in a large town/city

I use to find it annoying when I wanted to watch a film at home, streaming or download (streaming works in SD for me about 80% of the time), having to check how much data had already been used so as not to go over

I think I would rather have a slower uncapped than and faster capped BB

I wish I could show off my internet speed, unfortunately I'm one of those that lives out in the sticks.

My company (I work from home) pays $138/month for this connection. Next week I have a different ISP coming in for a 30-day trial. They promise a download speed of "up to" 10Mbs for only $80/month.

I see more and more work on the fibre network going on around the village every day, hopefully I wont have to put up with this poor speed for much longer.

Wow. I thought I was already paying too high on my internet that's why I called up my ISP to complain.
I was paying $130/month on my old speed (25down-2up) bundled with cable TV. After asking my ISP to cancel my subscription, we ended on a Hybrid Fibre upgrade with 60down-10up speed and cable TV for only $99. There are 2 main players here on internet services. And the competition is really tough between the 2.

I was under the impression that you and Brink have the best speeds here because of all the work you are doing on this forum.

All ISPs are taking the same path... The fiber optic technology way. It's just a question of "when". But your area seems to be in the works now. That"s good news!

There are NO cables where I live, let alone fiber optic.

Can't get dsl, cable TV or cable internet. Just satellite, cellular and what's called "fixed wireless".

It is the same here. I do have pretty decent wireless service thru Verizon, but it is very expensive at $10 per GB of data. My neighbor tried out a satellite service, but didn't have very good luck with it. When my contract with Verizon is up next June, I'm hoping I can find a better option.

But how does it work there? Do you have a cap for downloads? If so, how many GBs?

My old package is only 80GB/month. Now it's upgraded to 320GB which I think is too much for what I need. But 80GB is not enough sometimes.
I think it's 250GB. Never come close to that, so it doesn't matter to me

5GHz WjFi broadband. The best I could do at my location. Unlimited traffic though. Total DL this month = 1.03 TiB.
