I should have mentioned that up until April I had X1 Preferred Triple Play which included Blast! Internet (200Mbs). Every few years I go through a cycle where I negotiate a better deal after which every year it goes up until it eventually reaches the regular price. It was time for a new deal. This time for less than I was paying I could keep the same TV and phone packages but could get Gigabit Internet. So for a savings of $25 less per month I had to sign a 2-year contract. For the next two years I will enjoy the extra speed.
BTW, Internet providers are very competitive where I live. I can choose from four different companies.
I have a choice of either Comcast or WOW for Gigabit Internet over conventional coax. That means that if your download speed is about 900-950 Mbps your upload speed will only be about 30-40 Mbps.
I also have a choice of either Google Fiber or AT&T Fiber for Gigabit Internet over Fiber. That means that both your download and upload speeds are about 900-950 Mbps.
