It does that scroll turning thing while trying to load and then gives up and says page cannot be reached.

    Have you restarted your router?

    Delete browser temporary files.

You can use the attached batch script to reset TCP/IP protocol suite if that don't work, change the DNS server IP address.

Yes for 1 and 2. The third looks rather complicated so I will need to go through it carefully.

When I got home from work today I had internet for about an hour and a half. Then it just stopped and nothing would load anymore. Rebooted and it worked for about 2 min and then stopped again.

Also I forgot to mention that I am connected to my router using a wifi dongle. Don't know if that makes a difference. Could the dongle be on the fritz?

No that won't make any problems.

Can you also visit network card manufacturer website to install the latest version of the driver.

Possible symptoms of a major DDoS cybercrime spree. I saw places on the internet reporting a DDoS attack occurring.

    My symptoms of that:

I started browsing, after I got packet loss in Halo CE, when I decided to take a break from the game.

    DistroWatch was extremely slow.

    TechPowerUp was extremely slow.

The Pale Moon message board was extremely slow, it had severe difficulty loading tiny images!

    This was on FTTH!

    But, was A-OK at Speedtest!

    Update:

Been trying something over the last two days and got a strange result: internet works perfectly until I open Facebook. I can do everything else without any problems at all for however long I want but as soon as I open FB all other browser windows and tabs grind to a halt.

    Can someone explain this?

    And ...

When I restart after opening Facebook there is an app called privacy app that prevents Windows from restarting. Could that app have something to do with it?
