Windows 10 cannot find the Synology NAS in my network

Windows 10 Pro OS Build 19042.1165 Version 20H2 dates 3/14/2021
Using the Synology assistant to find the NAS I get a message "No Synology Server was found on the local network."
The NAS is hard wired to my private server (AT&T) modem.
Synology says it is a local network problem and they cannot help.
    Can any one help?
    Thanks

I went though similar situation with an Asustor NAS. I ended up

    1 Disconnect NAS from router
2 Disconnect PC from router and it MUST be placed on a cat5 cable
3 PC must NOT have a static IP. It should be set to Obtain IP Automatically
4 Connect PC to NAS with the cat5 cable

Then check and see what the IP of your PC is. The problem I had was that the NAS was on a different sub net. I use 192.168.1.xx it was using something totally different and therefore could not be seen on my sub net until I finally figured out the IP of the NAS and changed it so it matched my subnet (192.168.1.xx). Entering "arp -a" in a cmd window will give you a list of IPs. From there it shouldn't be hard to figure out which is your PC and which is the NAS as there should only be 2 IPs. Once you have the IP for NAS you should be able to access it via a browser using the IP of the NAS in the address bar of the browser. Then you'll need the default login info for the NAS. Once logged in you should be able to set the IP of the NAS to your desired setting.

A handy tool to have installed is Advanced Port Scanner. it's free and will list everything on your network with all the info you would ever need.
