Which of the two PCs on your network did you run the .bat on, the laptop or the other?
(I'm just checking to see whether you're running it on the one that doesn't see itself on the network or the one that can't find the other one on the network.)

The laptop EventHorizon was the one not seen on the network. After I ran the bat file on EventHorizon it then showed up.

Note EventHorizon was working OK on the network because I could ping it. The only problem was the rest of the network could not see it.

While this is true, the only unit I have that still has the issue is "Office" Mobil6, Mobil7, Janice, FrontDesk all have been rolled back to 2004 and no longer experience this issue. Even after WU's

My laptop hasn't been showing up on the network like it should since the last update. I have been using my network computer shortcut method. That works OK.

As has been mentioned the Master Browser is not doing its job to publish that the laptop is there. Another so called fix to overcome this by forcing a computer to be published on the network. Someone on another thread came up with a script to do that.

    1. On my laptop I ran NotePad
    2. Add the following text
    net stop FDResPub
    net start FDResPub

    3. Save the file on the desktop with the name FDResPub.bat

    To run the batch file:
    1. Right-click on FDResPub.bat
    2. Select Run as administrator
    3. The batch file should start up and run

Within 30 seconds the laptop showed up on my network
Thanks MisterEd this worked for me too. I suppose we'll have to run this after every WU?

I just fixed the problem with my laptop not showing on the network. It wasn't to after I looked at the screenshots that I made did I realize that I should have seen this.

    Settings > Network & Internet
Notice that my Wi-Fi network is set to Public network
    Click on Properties

Cannot see other pc on home network-network1.jpg

The Network profile is set to Public

Cannot see other pc on home network-network2.jpg

Change the Network profile to Private

Cannot see other pc on home network-network3.jpg

    Wi-Fi network is now Private

Cannot see other pc on home network-network4.jpg

I can now see my laptop EventHorizon in the Network

Cannot see other pc on home network-network5.jpg

So yes this works until a reboot. So we need a Registry Patch to make this happen or perhaps a Scheduled Task?

The shortcuts to the network computers also work as long as the computer can be pinged. Have you tried that? I had been using the shortcut to my laptop computer until found the fix to my network problem.

Thank @OldNavyGuy for creating FDResPub.bat. He created a task to run FDResPub.bat at system startup in Task Scheduler.

He posted this information in post #12 in the following thread: Cannot remove network share fom File Explorer

Yes the scheduled Task works and starts Network being visible in File Explorer on boot up. Seems like MS just doesn't want us to network our computers for some unknown reason. I guess they think we can use User Sync and one drive instead. This does not work for me at all, as I don't trust One Drive and User sync doesn't work as all my computer have different task connected to different businesses or personal use. Some times with very limited Internet access
