Windows 10 Sharing Network Drives between 2 PC

    Hello Guys,

I recently built a new pc and its connected to my router via ethernet and its in my room. My old PC is in the basement connected to the same router via wireless 5Ghz AC. I have 2 HDD with all files on this PC in my basement and I want to share these drives as network drives to my new PC. I did set it up to share in the networking manager and it did work correctly for a day or so. After a restart of the PC (i think) now its asking for username and password. I tried my windows username and pass and it didnt work. Both these PC's are using same windows live email address as well. I am the admin in both the PC and the only user. I have network discovery turned on as well and also disabled password protected sharing. I did the basic troubleshooting steps via google but its still not working. Hence the post here.

Please let me know if you can help, I have comcast as ISP if that matters, any other info needed please ask
    EDIT: windows version 20H2
    Thanks

You say shared the drives which is fatal as any hack or virus can have full access the second point by default all drives have an admin share with a $ is c$ sharing it again causes confusion. How have you shared?

@Berton files and printers also shared i click file explorer and then scroll down to network on the left side and then I see my PC as well, media player, other devices etc
@Samuria I shared by going to this PC, right click properties select sharing and then click advancedsharing and then full access then press ok
I thought this was a secure method bc its only accessible within my network, please share if there is a more secure way. This was the easiest way i could find when I googled it

The admin share is the safest so connect to c$ the problem may be you have setup a share but then the NTFS perimissions need to be set or you can get in what folders are you connecting to as some have special permission.

Have you done any updates as often windows sets everything back to safe so its more secure

i did some updates recently i think maybe 2-3 days ago, can you share some links on how to do the secure admin share that you mentioned? I will try to do that if its safer.

i shared the whole drive, some folders have documents like school work etc, others have music, videos etc. then some pictures.

    Open a cmd prompt type

    net use s: \\pcname\c$ /user:username password

You can change s to any drive letter once it works save the text a map.cmd then you can run it by click on the file
