    Network (wifi) settings won't stick

Network settings randomly flip. Has anyone seen this before? Any suggestions?

    Windows 10 Pro 64 bit
    Linksys Velop WHW0303 wifi
    VPN
    ASUS (Broadcom) 802.11ac network adapter

All drivers, firmware, and software seems to be up-to-date.

    Network settings randomly flip:

The first column shows what is wanted. The second and third columns show what Windows flips to. Also, the Network Profile randomly flips from Public (which I want) to Private, but not vice versa.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have worked with NetSetMan for 5 days and I have not found any settings that would help my cause. I have neither found NetSetMan settings to force Win10 network profile to stay at Public, nor have I found settings to freeze network protocol, security type, network band, network channel.

Any other ideas? Thanks in advance.

The network properties you refer to are properties of the network[s] not of your computer.

You can double-check the properties of the networks your WiFi adapter detects by using NirSoft's WifiInfoView

The first time you connect to a network, Windows will ask you if you want to make it discoverable [i.e. a Private network] or non-discoverable [i.e. a Public network].

Yes, some of the troublemaker settings are network - my LAN, and I was asking for help. Why is my LAN doing that? The computer is a desktop, therefore does not move. My routers do not move. Interference is constant.

The remaining setting for Public/Private network is Windows 10, and again I was asking for help. Why does Windows 10 keep flip-flopping the setting on its own?

WifiInfoView does not help with any of it.

    Hi, consider this:
    https://consumer.huawei.com/en/suppo...en-us00698594/

Do you have any public Wifi hotspots nearby with a strong signal?

As regards automatically switching to one, I thought that was discontinued from build 1709.

However if you still have the data configured for such a connection, that might explain this.

    This would be more worrying:

Three weeks ago, I changed the roaming settings of my wireless adapter to be less aggressive. Also, I changed the location of one of the linksys velop nodes to give it a more tortuous path. One or both of these seemed to solve the problems. For three weeks, my system settings have not flip-flopped around.
