    Sharing setup

I have two different routers for my home network , my downstairs router is hard wired to my upstairs router and both are different type routers though made by Linksys. Anyway what I want to do is share my files and folders from upstairs to downstairs but my laptop uses wifi. I did find a video on YouTube but I'm guessing both computers are hard wired and on the same router. I know it may seem odd using two routers but I found that a WIFI booster just doesn't work in this old house. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Running Windows10 Pro, 64-bit, version 2004, OS build 19041.985

Just an idea, I did my Network differently. I don't need access to actual computers from other computers but wanted file storage and accessible from all machines desiring it so I use a Wireless Router with 8-port Switch and have 2 x 2TB NAS drives attached by Ethernet cable. Any computer whether Wired or Wireless can access the Public folder on each if I Map them.

Not sure how it would work with 2 Routers and which one to attach a drive to. If a Router is new enough to have a USB port might try a Thumb drive in it, see if it gets recognized.

It all depends how you have set them up are both on the same subnet and ip range and which is dhcp? from a cmd prompt type

    ipconfig /all

on 1 down stairs and 1 up stairs

that will give us the info

I am a dummy when it comes to this stuff. I did the ipconfig /all upstairs and downstairs as you stated and am attaching results. Both are marked. The downstairs was attained using WIFI on my laptop. I hope it gives you the info you need

The downstairs router is connected to the upstairs by Cat7 cable. I've tried wifi boosters but they just don't work very well in this old house so I went with the router. I use the downstairs strictly for Wifi but as you know I can connect the laptop to the router by cable but you do get restricted by the length of the cable depending where you are going with the laptop. I usually use my laptop in the dining room and it's about maybe 4-6 feet away from the router.

The upstairs router were is the network cable plugged into it should be a lan port NOT a wan port on that router dhcp must be turned off so you get ip from down stairs. the ip of the router can be the same as downstairs but must be in the same range ie if down stairs is 192.168.1.1 upstairs should out side the dhcp range like 192.168.1.77

The downstairs router IS connected to a LAN port and everything has been configured on the downstairs router to be shut off and is in Bridge Mode (see attached). Both routers have been configured to have static IP's and yes they are in the range you describe. I think the dumbest thing I have not said is that the files which I want to share is on an external hard drive. I don't know if this makes any difference or not after all I've never done this before and I just don't know.
