Have you try calling your ISP for technical support ?
Can you confirm anything can get the full speed from the router the fault can be the router/isp or windows we need to work out which it is
The Network Router supports Wired and Wireless/Wi-Fi connections for computers [much older ones didn't have the Wireless]. The speeds between them can be an issue, generally the Wired is classed as 10/100/1000 bps [bits per second] with the fastest being the 1000/Gigabit. The Wireless is classed as 802.11a or b or g or n, maybe a combination, the newest I'm up to is 802.11ac for the Router and a few Notebooks' adapters and even newer is 802.11ax. All this is one thing and the other thing is the speed from the Router to the Internet and that is provided/governed by the ISP one is subscribed to.
Depends on your hardware at each end of the Wireless link. You have not said what it is.
The wireless connection speed will be the slowest of the two bits of wireless hardware. Not all hardware is dual band. Even if it does have 5 GHz it could just be 1 channel, or could be 4.
Have you installed the Windows 10 Wireless Card driver for whatever Wireless Card you have added to your PC assuming it's the one you have listed, and are the aerials plugged in.
Sorry,bit slow at moment,not well.
Forgot,I have a Virgin Hub 4 connected to TP-Link Archer C2300 which is doing all the work.
All WiFi adaptors are 10/100/1000 bps with correct drivers.
Getting 900 mbps + on wired, but only Max 200 (5g) on wireless even when only 1 Metre from Router.
Router has been replaced so not that
Thanks
I have Comcast Gigabit Internet. 1200 Mbps down, 35 Mbps up.
Here are some test results I got.
It is not realistic to get 1 Gbps with Wi-Fi. Depending upon noise and distance expect 150 Mbps to 400 Mbps with 802.11ac.
I checked the specs for the Virgin HUB 4 and the Archer C2300. They only supports Wi-Fi 5 802.11ac. The best you can do is about 400 Mbps.
My Samsung S21 phone does 742 Gbps because both it and my Gateway support Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax.
The laptop would sometimes connect to 2.4 GHz which caused the speed to be even slower. I solved that by assigning different SSIDs to 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. That way I could force the connection to 5 GHz by selecting the SSID for 5 GHz.
To show the difference I have connected at 2.4 GHz and run a speed test and then repeated this at 5 GHz.
Recently I made these configuration changes.
I haven't tested this but these changes may force the laptop to connect at 5 GHz.
