    Can't remove network printer

In the past when I have a problem with a network printer, I remove it and reinstall it. This time I've done that several times and it still doesn't work. Then I removed it and rebooted and found it was still there.

So I see it's a different problem. It's not really getting removed when I hit the "remove" button under control panel/devices and printers. I tried a registry fix, but that didn't work either.

I went to this website Fix for Cannot Remove or Delete Network Printer in Windows
and deleted the Canon 410 in the registry key below

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER – Printers – Connections

But the 2nd registry item There are no printers to delete an the last branch of the tree

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE – SYSTEM – CurrentControlSet – Control – Print – Providers – LanMan Print Services – Servers – Printers

    I'm stumped

I do not think I can help you but did you run printmanagement.msc ? Maybe it offers an extra option.
At the moment my thread runs under Drivers and Hardware about a printer issue. I just changed the printing port from WSD to TCP/IP. Hopefully it solves my issue, but maybe it is also of interest to your error problems.

Thanks I ran printmanagement.msc and see the printer still installed there. If no one else replies I'll try and remove the printer there, since right clicking it does give that option.

Earlier I did go to control Panel I selected the printer and chose Printer server properties/Drivers and tried to remove the printer driver and driver package and since it's a network printer I got an error message

This printer has worked for years as a network printer on these Win 10 machines. This is the first time I've had this problem

Hi Gerry, there are known specific printer issues with recent Windows updates & Windows versions.
This link discusses one of those problems relating to KB5000802.

    KB5000802 CU Windows 10 v2004 build 19041.867 and v20H2 19042.867

You may check your Windows update history to see if you've received KB5000802.

Please update your 'My Computer' to reflect your winver as this could be related. Thanks

I have version 1909 on both Win 10 computers. I had trouble with 2004, so stayed with 1909. I didn't see KB5000802 on either computer, unless I missed it. It seems to me if I'm using 1909, I can't have this KB5000802.

I have another canon 920 network printer in addition to the Canon 410 , both network printers are on my upstairs computer and work fine upstairs, but the 410 is having problems on the downstairs computer, yet the 920 ls fine.

I tried to delete the printer and driver packet using printmanagement.msc It didn't work either. Sometimes I'd get a message it couldn't delete it because it was still in use.

I have 2 printers connected to my upstairs computer they work fine with it, but only recently has my Canon 410 stopped working with my downstairs computer. I wish I could somehow nuke the whole printer setup thing and start over and reinstall both printers on my downstairs computer.

Any ideas on how to proceed?

As suggested earlier, check which port is in use and try to install on the other port (WSD vs TCP/IP)

I looked at everything I could find and never saw any reference to (WSD vs TCP/IP). Is that because the printer is not connected to this computer, but is a network computer on a different computer?

I changed the port from USB003 to USB004 and tried to print, but now see it's not showing up in the print window when you choose "Print". I tried to add the printer again under Devices and Printers, but it posted an error

TomorrowI I will give a reaction, but for now on not being able to delete the driver while it is busy: are there print jobs waiting in the print spooler? If so, delete them first.

I'm not sure about the print spooler, I find no reference to that. But I'm pretty sure that there are no jobs. If I go to File Exploder/Networks/UPSTAIRS COMPUTER/CANON 410 and double click on the 410 a window pops up that has always shown the printing jobs. There are no jobs there I just checked. I'm puzzled by the "printer is in use" message also.

Sorry, I'm stuck out of town waiting for my GF at a medical appointment. I only have my phone here.

I trust that both PCs are connecting wirelessly, correct?

Were you able to use this printer before, how long ago, what hardware or updates including OS has changed since?

Have you tried anything else to restore use of that printer?

Tried to install newly downloaded drivers after uninstalling the present drivers?

    Uninstall the printer completely?
