Is the problem with both Win8.x and Win10 or just one? Is it an Ethernet connection or Wireless/Wi-Fi? Does Device Manager in both versions show any issues? Have the necessary drivers been installed and updated?

    Hi
It would be of considerable help if you could be a little more descriptive in your post
Is this on both OS when actually booted and one is loaded
What is the connection - ethernet or wireless.

What is the make and model of either adapter whichever is the case in use

and what have you tried to date please

Lot of questions I am not savvy with but will try.Win8.x has no internet but 10 does.I have wireless for my wife but mine shows ethernet connection. No problems in device manager.Don't know about the drivers and don't know where to get them.I am not to good with computers. As far as make and model of adapter, don't know where to find it.I must say I tried stupid stuff that probably doesn't matter.Got disgusted and deleted 8.1.Like to give it another go.If you would prefer I can install 8.1 again.Sorry that I don't know anything about computers.

I am very confused are you now saying that you do not have 8.1 installed having deleted it and the internet connection be it the ethernet or the wireless is working OK on 10

Is the ethernet cord connected between the computer and the modem/router as you say your are using ethernet and your wife is using wireless.

IF 8.1 is NOT now installed - in other words the computer is NOT now dual boot and the only OS is 10 you will I am sure appreciate that we cannot solve a problem except with generic advise, as that problem does not now exist.

When you have 8.1 installed and booted into that OS
go to network ad sharing centre - change adapter settings and ENABLE the connection in question

read the link and work your way through the options when on 8.1 please

When you boot and make a selection of the OS, is that in a blue screen or is it in the black boot menu?

He says it is the worst cough and absolutely unbearable throbbing headache he has ever had, but he is over the worse now and has avoided hospitalisation.

Absolutely no need to apologise - now knowing of your situation
When you get 8.1 re installed
post back and I will guide you step by step if necessary
